Management Level: M2 Job Summary: The Senior Manager leads and manages a multi-state team of ten or more workers’ compensation claims adjusters and/or administrative staff. This role provides operational leadership, technical claims handling, training, audits, and financial management within defined authority limits. The Senior Manager partners cross-functionally to support risk management initiatives and drives continuous improvement in claims processes and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in workers’ compensation claims handling, including supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of legal principles and workers’ compensation claims processes.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems and standard computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions based on complex analysis

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi-state team of 10 or more workers’ compensation adjusters and/or administrative support staff.
  • Oversee the technical handling of claims for complex and difficult workers’ compensation states, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement.
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements, timely payments, and proper filing of required forms.
  • Manage claims financials, including reserve setting up to $1,000,000 and settlement authority up to $250,000.
  • Conduct claim file audits, performance reviews, and implement training programs to maintain quality and service standards.
  • Analyze changes in workers’ compensation laws and update procedures accordingly.
  • Collaborate with risk management and other departments to reduce total cost of risk.
  • Lead and participate in special projects to improve claims operations and outcomes.
  • Handle confidential information professionally and maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
