About The Position

The Senior Manager will lead a team of professional accountants providing general accounting and financial reporting for a Maritime Sector business unit. This role will focus on partnership with business unit accountants and finance personnel is a core cultural characteristic of the organization. This key position will contribute to the organization in the following ways. Essential Functions: Liaison with the Sector Controller and program accounting personnel Ensure compliance with accounting policies Coordinate work during monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to ensure deadlines are achieved Review journal entries and account reconciliations Assist with prioritization of work and/or re-distribution when competing deadlines arise Create and/or update process documentation including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) narrative documents Support internal, external, and DCAA audits Ability to obtain US Government security clearance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • in lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements
  • Experience in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close in a fast-close process with multiple, often competing, deadlines
  • Experience in a complex ERP environment with additional systems for reporting
  • Experience with facilitation with internal and external audits
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards is a plus
  • CPA Certification preferred
