About The Position

The Senior Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure college facilities and equipment are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role requires a high level of expertise, leadership, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This Senior Maintenance Worker will also assist in training and guiding the maintenance staff. Essential Functions: Core Values: Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members. General Maintenance: Conduct inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes. Leadership and Training: Lead maintenance projects and coordinate tasks among maintenance staff. Building Access: Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment. Equipment Management: Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed. Vehicle Operation: Operate state vehicles and equipment safely. Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs while providing regular updates to their supervisor. Physical Exertion: Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs), often in awkward positions. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years experience in trade
  • Applicable license or ability to obtain one in the first year of employment
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy
