Senior Maintenance Mechanic
About The Position
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Maintenance Mechanic for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The position works independently in a "zone" reporting directly to a second level supervisor. Among the key duties of this position are the following: May guide and instruct other staff in the performance of a wide range of refrigeration and air conditioning duties required for all university facilities. Provides a wide range of highly skilled refrigeration, air conditioning, and mechanical duties required for the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of all University facilities. May guide and instruct craft trainees. May perform any duties of the group. May be assigned to perform general trade duties in other trade areas
Requirements
- High school/vocational school education or equivalent, plus four years of experience performing mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on industrial-type motors and pumps such as water distribution, high temp and vacuum pumps.
- Successful completion of an approved training program or of a certified apprenticeship program in the trade, plus a minimum of two years experience and proven competency performing complex and varied mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on industrial-type motors and pumps may be substituted for the above experience.
- A valid driver's license with two years driving experience is necessary.
- Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
- May be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Must be competent in performing complex and varied mechanical/electrical maintenance and repair work on these same types of industrial-type motors and pumps (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.)
- Good communication skills, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and read and comprehend technical manuals and blueprints.
