About The Position

QinetiQ Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Linux-based infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.

Requirements

5+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
Strong knowledge of system performance tuning and troubleshooting
Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM, etc.)
Implementation of STIG's according to NIST Framework
Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
Well versed in CyberSecurity hygiene
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance if required

Nice To Haves

Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Linux certifications (RHCE, LFCS, or equivalent)
Experience in high-availability and distributed systems
Working knowledge of Gitlab or similar applications

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain Linux server environments (physical, virtual, and cloud-based)
Ensure system performance, availability, and security across all environments
Automate routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
Manage system monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
Perform system upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation
Troubleshoot complex system and application issues
Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and security teams
Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
Support disaster recovery and backup strategies
