About The Position

We’re hiring a Senior Lead Technical Product Manager to join the team working on ADP’s next-generation SMB HCM/Payroll platform. You’ll join a growing team of PMs, designers, engineers, and data scientists combining emerging technologies with ADP’s industry leading HCM expertise to develop first-of-their-kind products in payroll, HR, time, benefits, and compliance. We’re looking for someone who thrives on ambiguity, rapid change, and hard operational constraints. You’ll operate with wide latitude, working across technical, business, and design partners to clarify messy requirements, shape and socialize durable roadmaps, and architect product decisions that build real-world customer trust and confidence. You know your toolbox, but you’re eager to expand it, bringing a repertoire of planning, prioritization, and validation techniques from experience across diverse domains and problems. You’re energized by new problems, able to defend your product decisions, and ready to push for technical, design, and market excellence. You raise the overall craft level by sharing approaches, mentoring junior teammates, and embodying high standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Strong preference for those with technical training, HCI/HF/CS background, or other analytical and critical thinking background. Ideally, this is balanced with a deep interest in design and the business models underpinning today’s market-leading digital products.
  • You have 8+ years of firsthand experience defining and delivering digital products with agile teams, discovering and documenting requirements, and embedding with agile scrum teams through execution and go to market. This includes working with data scientists and data engineers identifying, defining, testing, iterating, proving out, and shipping products powered by machine learning and GenAI that solve genuine customer and business problems.
  • You’re comfortable digging into a technical platform driven by events-based architecture and scalable data models, can query a database if needed, and can translate the technical tradeoffs for any audience.
  • You’ve written or contributed to technical specifications for software systems, and can quickly adapt to internal toolkits for documentation.
  • You will own end-to-end requirements definition, producing functional specifications that enable high-quality engineering execution (in addition to user stories-level definitions).
  • You’re an exceptional listener and versatile communicator, naturally building rapport and trust at every level, with everyone you engage with.
  • You are a natural optimist with the conviction that the right mindset and grit can overcome any problem — and a track record that backs it up. At the same time, you know when and how to temper your optimism without becoming a champion of the status quo or a cynic.
  • You have successfully, productively integrated GenAI / LLM tooling into your professional workflows and are on top of the latest developments with this technology.
  • You lead by example. You are sought out to mentor, challenge, and level-up PM, UXR, or design peers. You practice and advocate for human-centered design.
  • You can debate architecture with engineers, partner on schema/API design, and adapt to new integration models. Architecture diagrams and data models do not give you stress nightmares.
  • You’re an excellent, authentic, adaptive, versatile communicator. You can articulate the rationale behind a prioritization decision and gain buy-in with stakeholders — sometimes at the expense of their own priorities. You can explain technical concepts in a way that resonates with non-technical audiences. You can inspire and excite people through the power of your storytelling.
  • You can operate independently in project mgmt tools like Jira, Confluence, etc for planning, documentation, tracking, and deployments.
  • You have end-to-end wins in enterprise corp environments, can point to major products and features in market from kickoff to v1 launches, and can recite the performance metrics you’re proudest of and most embarrassed about from memory.

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus for experience launching products in highly regulated domains e.g. payroll, tax, HR, fintech, healthcare, where compliance, auditability, and risk management were key success factors.

Responsibilities

  • Scrums and keeping momentum:You’ll work with multiple teams (sometimes at once) to clarify responsibilities, anticipate obstacles, and keep priorities moving. You represent in cross-team forums and are often the go-to for gnarlier x-org, vendor, or integration blockers.
  • Research & Requirements:Beyond authoring sharp briefs, you scope and pressure-test requirements, incorporating your own primary research, prototypes, or validation experiments as needed. If there’s no test plan for the latest version of the model, or if analytics updates are dragging, you’ll pick up the baton and drive it yourself. You break down vague, multi-path deliverables into testable, deliverable roadmap.
  • Relationships:You build alliances in every direction, mentoring junior PMs or designers, leveling up team practices, and educating and collaborating with stakeholders. Your comms are sharp and your thoughtful approach to gaining alignment demonstrates the depth and range of your experience. You adapt formality, volume, and channel to fit your audience and moment.
  • Measurement:You work backwards from outcomes. You set objectives up front, ensure the team and the product are set up with analytics and feedback capabilities, and adjust course as evidence emerges. You’re comfortable with various kinds and quality of data, and how to get it… whether analyzing KPIs, querying a database, or running a short user testing cycle.
  • Variety of work:You wear many hats: drafting new technical specs for the data model, testing work-in-progress features and integrations, wireframing out rough solutions, investigating partner or internal API specs and SLAs, building business cases, slide-smithing for upcoming reviews and updates. You do whatever advances the product.
  • Influence & Persuasion:You present and defend priorities and positions with pressure-testing executives and skeptical teams. In your interactions with stakeholders, you advance by emphasizing product thinking and decision-making discipline.
  • Integrations:You lead the charge on (external and internal) partner engagement, from technical diligence to execution and change management with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Service teams.
