About The Position

AECOM’s Urbanism + Planning team is seeking an experienced and licensed Senior Landscape Architect to join our Tampa, Florida studio. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Florida's diverse public and private sector projects, including municipal, state, federal, transportation, institutional, and environmental initiatives. The Senior Landscape Architect will play a pivotal role in supporting AECOM’s urbanism practice by delivering high-quality design, planning, and project management services. Specific responsibilities include: Design Leadership: Provide architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and design recommendations for specialized segments of the Landscape Architectural Discipline, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets. Project Management: Manage modest-sized projects independently or assist Project Managers on larger, more complex projects. Plan and organize multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and efficiency. Project Documentation: Prepare planning documents, conceptual and schematic designs, illustrations, graphics, construction details, construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates. Perform field reviews and site analysis, documenting observations and conditions in written reports. Perform construction administration and post-design services. Team Collaboration: Report to the Principal Landscape Architect and Senior Manager within the Tampa Urbanism Studio. Manage and mentor teams of landscape architects, designers, and specialists of varying sizes. Coordinate technical and administrative activities with multidisciplinary teams, including urban designers, engineers, architects, and technicians. Training and Development: Participate in the training and evaluation of assigned landscape architectural and design/drafting personnel. Travel: Domestic travel may be required to support project needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from a Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB)-accredited program or a related field, plus 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • State of Florida licensed landscape architect or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of start date.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and the ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in landscape architecture and urban design, with a focus on Florida projects for both private and public sector clients, including municipal, county, state, and institutional agencies.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Expertise in public and private projects, including: Transportation (e.g., streetscapes, public realm, multi-modal projects) Parks, trails, and open space design Placemaking, visioning, and master planning
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software, including: AutoCAD, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, 3D graphics tools, ArcView GIS, and other related CADD software.
  • Strong project management, time management, and task management skills.
  • Strong quality control practices and experience with interdisciplinary technical reviews of planning, design, and construction documents.
  • Ability to maintain regular office hours and participate in company functions.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
  • Experience with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects.
