Our Clark location is part of our Taste Division, producing flavors and ingredients. Our Clark facility is unique in the sense they have two buildings. The North building has a fruitier smell to it, the teams in that building are producing natural flavoring and essential oils. The South building is the complete opposite, it will have savory and garlic smells because the team is producing seasonings for meat, chicken broth, and beef gravy. 160 Terminal Ave, Clark, NJ 07066

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related applied science field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a laboratory environment (food or related industry preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with sensory evaluation and product specification management.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation, including HPLC and GC.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems (GMP, HACCP, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with SAP (power user/superuser preferred) and Intelex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain chemical inventory and laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure specification review, accuracy, and alignment in the quality database for all New Product Introductions (NPIs), including sensory, analytical, and microbiological requirements.
  • Perform analytical testing (e.g., pH, titration, SG, RI, spectrophotometry, moisture) for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with SOPs and specifications.
  • Review and interpret analytical data from HPLC and Gas Chromatography (GC) testing accurately.
  • Participate in and support sensory evaluation panels.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and support calibration of laboratory instruments and testing methods.
  • Investigate and provide solutions for out-of-specification (OOS) results in collaboration with Supply Chain and Production teams.
  • Conduct RCA and implement CAPA for raw material issues, internal quality concerns, and customer complaints.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve raw material quality issues and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Supply Chain, Production, Sales, and Product Commercialization.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, documentation, and ensure timely equipment calibration and compliance.
  • Manage and maintain quality data within SAP and Intelex systems.
  • Adhere to all quality, safety, and company policies, including GMP and HACCP requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
