About The Position

Stark Library is hiring a full-time (40 hours/week) Senior IT Technician to answer phone calls and address ticket requests coming into the HelpDesk from other Library staff.  This role also acts as an additional end-user support resource along with other IT staff and have light project duties assigned to them. The Library is open to the public Monday through Saturday (with at least two branches open on Sundays during the school year) and evenings up to 8pm throughout the week.  Candidates should expect to work at least two evening shifts (up to 8pm), participate in an every other Friday/Saturday rotation with other IT staff, and assist with Sunday (12-5pm) coverage every other week.   This role is primarily in-office; however, some limited remote hours will be expected to complete the weekly full-time schedule and as needed, at the discretion of the Director. An employee serving in this position advances the mission of the Library by performing a full range of professional information technology work across the library system and all of its locations.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Windows desktop and server O/S troubleshooting and basic administration required.
  • Ability to implement research techniques and practices is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
  • Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  • Associate’s of Applied Science or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience in a related field is required.
  • Ohio drivers’ license and ability to maintain a driving record that is satisfactory to the Library’s liability insurance carrier is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Windows Active Directory and basic DNS, DHCP, and TCP-IP troubleshooting preferred.
  • Experience in public library or public-sector organizations is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to requests from computer users regarding systems and workstation level hardware, software, telecommunications, or network connection problems or questions.
  • Prioritizes requests or problems according to established criteria and enters relevant data into a computerized user-request tracking system.
  • Resolves problems or provides "how-to" instructions using a variety of online monitoring and diagnostic software tools, reference manuals, vendors, and on-the-job experience.
  • Places service calls with vendors and coordinates service for the user.
  • Advises users of the on-going status of their request, and places follow-up calls to ensure that satisfactory service was provided.
  • Updates and revises reference materials and work procedures.
  • Produces basic statistical or work-activity reports by generating computer queries or gathering and assembling data.
  • Interfaces with other IT Department personnel to provide network support to their projects.
  • Learns the functions and operation of new products, systems, or equipment by attending training or through tutorials or self-instruction, and updates and revises reference materials and work procedures to keep current and accurate records.
  • May serve as a back-up to other IT staff as needed.
  • May train library staff or volunteers.
  • May serve on library committees as needed.
  • Other duties as required.
