About The Position

Samaritan Daytop Village provides life-changing services in mental health, addiction recovery, housing, and more to help individuals and families across New York rebuild their lives. We serve over 33,000 clients annually throughout the five boroughs, as well as Suffolk, Rockland, Sullivan, Westchester, and Ulster Counties. The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer supports a distributed environment spanning over 60 program locations and 1,700 employees by maintaining and optimizing the organization’s network, server, cloud, and cybersecurity systems. This role troubleshoots complex infrastructure issues, ensures high system availability, and provides onsite support through regular travel to program locations. The engineer also maintains documentation, supports HIPAA‑regulated environments, and provides occasional off‑hours assistance to keep critical IT operations running securely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with at least 4 years of infrastructure engineering experience, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • Hands‑on experience supporting network, server, cloud, and cybersecurity infrastructure in a distributed, multi‑site environment
  • Proficiency with routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, SD‑WAN, wireless networks, and multi‑vendor environments (Cisco, Meraki, Dell, Fortinet, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, SQL, and backup/disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS
  • Ability to lead infrastructure projects, including planning, testing, implementation, and upgrades
  • Experience evaluating hardware/software solutions and working with vendors
  • Familiarity with HIPAA‑regulated environments and security best practices
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Ability to cross‑train IT team members and collaborate effectively across departments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cisco VoIP and telecom infrastructure
  • Experience in the Health and Human Services sector preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and maintain network, server, cloud, and security infrastructure across program locations
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and ensure high availability
  • Deploy, configure, and manage firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, intrusion detection systems, and other cybersecurity tools
  • Install and configure network hardware and services, including routers, switches, load balancers, and SD‑WAN solutions
  • Support cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and virtualization platforms (VMware)
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, network diagrams, and configuration records
  • Respond to IT support tickets and provide advanced escalation support for infrastructure‑related issues
  • Travel to program sites for onsite setup, maintenance, and technical support
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational security policies
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology evaluations
  • Collaborate with IT team members and cross‑train staff on network and system technologies
  • Provide occasional off‑hours support during outages, maintenance windows, or project rollouts
