About The Position

At Insane Cyber, we’re focused on advancing cybersecurity for the better. We’ve developed innovative tools backed by expert support to change how organizations perform deep-level proactive and reactive analysis. We partner with our customers to provide cutting-edge solutions and services to help protect critical infrastructure and critical operations—from the power grid to manufacturing. Our flagship Valkyrie and Cygnet products provide host and network analysis automation beyond the capabilities of other products on the market. Our Corvus and Aesir product lines deliver managed and professional services to help assess and fill gaps in clients’ security programs. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Operations Engineer (IC-6) to own the reliability, security, and operability of both Insane Cyber’s internal infrastructure and our customer-facing products. This is a senior individual contributor role with broad ownership, real authority, and high impact. This role sits at the intersection of internal IT, product operations, compliance, and customer deployments. You will own Insane Cyber’s internal IT infrastructure end-to-end while ensuring Valkyrie and Cygnet can be reliably built, deployed, supported, and secured in both commercial and regulated environments. As an early-stage company, there will initially be no separate IT team. This role will take the first cut on IT and operational support requests, including ownership of the company help desk. The expectation, and mandate, is to design scalable processes, tooling, automation, and delegation models that reduce friction and distribute operational responsibility appropriately across the organization over time. Success in this role is measured not by how many tickets you personally close, but by how effectively you build systems that make problems less frequent and easier to resolve.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, IT operations, systems engineering, or similar roles
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex systems spanning endpoints, networks, and production environments
  • Strong scripting and automation experience, with a proven ability to design and maintain automated operational systems rather than relying on manual processes
  • Strong experience with security hardening, compliance-driven infrastructure, and operational best practices
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and drive outcomes in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, pragmatic mindset
  • Experience supporting federal, DoD, IC, or other regulated government environments
  • Familiarity with RMF, NIST, DISA STIGs, or similar security and compliance frameworks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an early-stage or rapidly growing startup, particularly in roles requiring broad ownership and comfort with ambiguity
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies
  • Experience automating endpoint management, compliance checks, or security hardening workflows
  • Experience supporting CI/CD, QA, or release pipelines for software products
  • Experience supporting Linux-based products in customer or field environments
  • Background in cybersecurity, OT, or industrial environments

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, reliability, and security of Insane Cyber’s internal IT infrastructure, including endpoints, identity, networking, access controls, and core tooling
  • Establish and maintain secure endpoint management, system hardening standards, and operational baselines
  • Own internal IT tooling, vendors, and operational processes with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security
  • Improve observability, monitoring, and alerting across internal and customer-facing systems
  • Own internal compliance initiatives, including policy development, audits, and evidence collection
  • Develop and maintain STIGs, hardening guides, and compliance baselines, particularly for Valkyrie deployments
  • Support deployments in federal, defense, and other regulated environments, translating security and compliance requirements into practical operational controls
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure products meet applicable compliance and security expectations
  • Partner with Engineering to improve the reliability, security, and compliance of build, QA, and release processes
  • Help define and enforce standards across development, testing, staging, and production environments
  • Support deployments in constrained or customer-controlled environments, including air-gapped systems
  • Provide operational feedback to Engineering based on real-world deployment and support experience
  • Own the company help desk as an operational system, including tooling, workflows, automation, and escalation paths
  • Take the initial first cut on internal IT and operational support issues, prioritizing root-cause analysis and long-term fixes
  • Design processes that appropriately involve other teams in support and operations as the company scales
  • Serve as a Tier 2 escalation point for complex internal and customer-facing issues related to Valkyrie and Cygnet
  • Support Professional Services during customer deployments and resolve high-impact operational issues

Benefits

  • Competitive Base Salary
  • Equity offering subject to board approval
  • Comprehensive medical/dental/vision/life insurance plan
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Flexible working hours and generous time-off policy
