About The Position

The Senior Investigator & Compliance Specialist provides a full range of administrative services needed to contribute to the effective management of the Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion, Staff Development and Title IX job responsibilities for CT State Community College. Under the direction of the Director of Equal Employment Opportunity, the role of the Senior Investigator & Compliance Specialist is to develop, prepare, and monitor the annual Affirmative Action Plans and related programs within CT State Community College. The Senior Investigator & Compliance Specialist oversees the full array of equal employment, affirmative action and equity duties and in this capacity shall report to the CT State Community College Director of Equity and Civil Rights on these matters.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Counseling, HR, or Education, or a closely related field with four (4) years of professional experience leading Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity or Equity initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, HR, or Education, or a closely related field with six (6) years of professional experience leading Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity and/or Equity initiatives.
  • CT Affirmative Action Regulations and the creation and implementation of affirmative action plans and programs
  • Use data to drive organizational change
  • Experience conducting discrimination and sexual harassment investigations
  • Providing leadership insight as a subject matter expert on Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance
  • The ADA, including the interactive process and the providing of reasonable accommodations.
  • Employment practices related to civil rights, equal employment opportunity or affirmative action plans and programs
  • Knowledge of needs and issues of students
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Title IX matters, including Title IX investigations
  • Experience with student-to-student investigations
  • Experience building and conducting training programs related to civil rights compliance
  • Civil Rights Certification(s), e.g., ADA, Investigations, Student Conduct, Title IX, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Equal Employment Opportunity Officer for assigned areas in accordance with the CT General Statutes and the CT Affirmative Action regulations.
  • Serves as the lead investigator and supervisor for civil rights complaints within CT State Community College; may assist with investigations related to Title IX; may lead other investigations as assigned.
  • Creates and/or provides staff development/training and education regarding AA/EEO, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Monitors the Recruitment and Search Process for compliance.
  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends.
