Sr. Inventory Accountant We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Accountant to manage and ensure the accuracy of inventory-related financial records. This role is critical in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting cost accounting activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a solid accounting foundation, and experience working with inventory in a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience with a focus on inventory
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles and cost accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, analysis)
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or retail environments
  • Knowledge of standard costing and inventory controls
  • Experience supporting audits

  • CPA or CPA-eligible, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records in accordance with GAAP
  • Perform inventory reconciliations between sub-ledgers and the general ledger
  • Analyze inventory valuation and reserves
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory
  • Prepare and review journal entries for inventory transactions
  • Coordinate and support physical inventory counts and cycle counts
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Internal Audit teams to monitor obsolescence and improve inventory controls
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory
  • Support process improvements and system enhancements related to inventory accounting
