About The Position

The Inventory Accountant will support and enhance inventory accounting, controls, and reporting across a multi-location distribution platform. This role is a key contributor within the accounting team and works closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to improve inventory accuracy, visibility, and process discipline.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Accounting with 6+ years of accounting experience
5–8+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on inventory accounting preferred
Experience in distribution, manufacturing, retail, or multi-location environments strongly preferred
Solid understanding of GAAP, inventory valuation, and cost accounting concepts
ERP experience required; NetSuite experience is a strong plus
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams

Responsibilities

Own inventory accounting processes, including:
Inventory valuation, reserves (excess & obsolete), and write-downs
Monthly inventory reconciliations and roll-forwards
Cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis and variance investigation
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close related to inventory accounts
Maintain and analyze inventory reserves, ensuring alignment with GAAP and company policy
Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to:
Investigate inventory discrepancies and adjustments
Improve cycle counts, physical counts, and reconciliation processes
Assist with inventory-related audit support, including external auditors and internal reviews
Support ERP (NetSuite) inventory processes, reporting, and enhancements
Contribute to documentation and improvement of inventory-related policies, procedures, and internal controls
Participate in integration efforts for newly acquired locations as needed
Provide additional accounting support, including ad hoc reconciliations and analyses, as needed.
