The role at a glance: NBBJ is seeking a talented Senior Interior Designer to lend their expertise to contribute towards the success of the New York Corporate/Commercial practice. The Senior Interior Designer is a client and public-facing expert who is visible to the New York market and can deliver projects at various scales. The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for producing the work while balancing an overall, high-level understanding of multiple projects. The skill and ability to both lead and integrate into a diverse team of designers will be beneficial for our highly collaborative studio. In your new role, you will: Exhibit significant experience in leading design process for multiple scales and complexities of projects, from very large buildings to small scale renovations, from design concept through documentation and CA; working as solo designer or directing a team to develop an integrated and comprehensive design narrative Contribute towards strategy and vision for proposals and interviews with prospective clients to increase win rate Advance the Corporate Interiors practice’s reputation through conference presentations, journal articles, social media communications and industry engagement Bring a strong desire to educate, mentor and push design dialogue within the New York office Be an excellent key seller of design ideas and a strong client relationship leader Be able to eloquently speak with and present to clients Be adept at the integration of strategic programming and design Appreciate diversity in people, ideas and style Have the desire to have a positive impact on others Leadership Style: Team-oriented leadership Well versed in the nuances of leading in a collaborative environment Driven to action, implementation and conclusion, able to respond nimbly to changing circumstances Undaunted by ambiguity Derives insight, discovers and applies new ideas to transform past practices and set new design directions Articulate; skillfully engages and communicates with colleagues and clients Has the ability to gracefully hold staff, colleagues and superiors accountable for their responsibilities Seeks feedback and adjusts behavior to successfully adapt to diverse styles Driven by a desire to collaboratively elevate design, with a good balance of EQ and IQ Curious; a strong communicator; transparent; self-confident; accountable; has a positive attitude
