About The Position

Under general direction, the Senior Instructional Designer supports the university’s AI Presidential Priority and Accessibility initiatives by translating the Provost’s vision into actionable learning design strategies, tools, and faculty-facing resources. This role coordinates complex, multi-stakeholder efforts across the Learning Design (LD) Suite, AI Literacy initiatives, and AI Course Assistants, ensuring progress toward timelines, quality, accessibility, and alignment with institutional priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience working in a central academic unit, or a university-level unit, especially within ASU.
  • Experience leading teams of faculty and/or staff for curriculum alignment or change.

Responsibilities

  • Learning Design, AI, and Accessibility Initiatives Organize and facilitate learning design sessions related to AI and accessibility, synthesizing stakeholder feedback and monitoring implementation across LD Suite tools.
  • Support roadmap planning for AI Literacy course development across academic units.
  • Guide discussions with academic units on adoption and refinement of AI-enabled and accessibility-focused learning design tools.
  • Assess AI Course Assistant tools and coordinate feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Training Development & Emerging Technologies Design and develop training content using Articulate Rise, Canvas, and other instructional authoring platforms to support faculty, staff, and academic leaders.
  • Independently create scalable learning assets, including self-paced modules, microlearning, job aids, and guides.
  • Stay current on emerging educational technologies, including AI-enabled tools, and translate them into practical, faculty-ready training experiences.
  • Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with project managers to establish timelines, track progress, support assessment activities, and contribute to impact reporting.
  • Facilitate meetings with cross-functional teams producing faculty-facing resources (e.g., videos, guides, workshops), ensuring quality, accessibility, and alignment with stakeholder perspectives.
  • Develop and lead workshops and workgroups; produce concise summaries, recommendations, and surfaced concerns for the Provost team and senior leadership.
  • Quality, Accessibility, and Resource Alignment Monitor and recommend improvements to the LD Suite website with a focus on accessibility, usability, and faculty experience.
  • Co-create templates and guidance to ensure consistency across Enterprise Technology and EdPlus training resources.
  • Professional Practice Model strong communication, organization, and collaboration in a high-visibility environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner to the Director of Learning Technology, with opportunities for mentorship and leadership growth.
