About The Position

AMSOIL INC. is seeking a Senior Automation & Maintenance Technician to support and advance manufacturing and packaging operations at our facility located in Superior, Wisconsin. This is a hands-on, technical role for a skilled technician with strong electrical, controls, and automation experience. AMSOIL is a synthetic lubricant manufacturer with a long track record of growth thanks to our position as the leader in lubrication technology. This position has a work schedule Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 10:30pm (with occasional overtime) and includes a shift differential of $2.00/hour. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance or equivalent combination of related education, training and hands-on experience
  • Proficient in:
  • Industrial electrical systems and controls
  • PLC troubleshooting and minor programming
  • VFDs, motor controls, and HMI applications
  • Automated and high-speed packaging equipment
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and the ability to be insurable for AMSOIL INC. vehicles required

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years’ of experience in a high-volume, automated production facility
  • Experience with robotics, AMRs, or advanced industrial automation
  • CMRT License
  • OSHA 30 Training and/or NFPA 70E Training
  • Experience supporting equipment installation and upgrades

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work safely and in compliance with company policies, OSHA, state, and federal requirements.
  • Identify and escalate safety, quality, and environmental concerns promptly.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on automated production and packaging systems including:
  • PLC controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley experience preferred)
  • VFDs, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems
  • HMI interfaces, fault logs, calibration, and system adjustments
  • Support and troubleshoot robotic and automated equipment, such as:
  • Palletizers and case packers
  • Fluid fillers, cappers, shrink wrappers, and labelers
  • AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) and robotic arms
  • Interpret electrical schematics, PLC logic, machine documentation, and technical drawings to resolve complex issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance for critical assets.
  • Utilize predictive tools to identify potential failures in equipment or machinery.
  • Recommend upgrades or replacements based on lifecycle analysis and performance/downtime data.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Operations, Safety and Quality on equipment modifications and reliability improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for Maintenance Technicians as a subject matter expert.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installation and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain and improve CMMS data accuracy and usage.
