Amazon is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Refrigeration Systems to lead our grocery operations' refrigeration infrastructure. This role combines technical expertise with specialized knowledge of grocery operations and food safety requirements. This role requires extensive experience in grocery refrigeration systems, including medium and low-temperature applications, display cases, walk-in units, and central plant operations. The position demands a strong background in food safety protocols, HACCP principles, and regulatory compliance, combined with expertise in building automation systems and energy management. The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, implement new technologies, and maintain the highest standards of food safety and system reliability across our operations.   • Lead technical direction for refrigeration systems across grocery locations, including system specifications, performance optimization, and monitoring solutions
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs, quality assurance protocols, and sustainable practices for refrigeration systems
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations while creating and maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Drive innovation in refrigeration technology, focusing on energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction
  • Design and deliver technical training programs for staff development and system maintenance excellence

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Industrial, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other related discipline
  • Knowledge of retail food code and regulations governing grocery retail at local, state, and federal levels
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial refrigeration systems, with at least 3 years specifically in grocery/supermarket refrigeration
  • Experience with building automation systems and energy management
  • Demonstrated experience with medium and low-temperature refrigeration systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, display cases, rack refrigeration systems, and CO2 (R744) refrigeration systems
  • Master's degree in a technical field
  • 3+ years of managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
  • Certified Retail Energy Specialist (CRES) certification
  • Experience leading sustainability initiatives and energy optimization projects
