We are seeking a proactive Senior Import/Export Specialist (SIES) to manage the day‑to‑day import and export operations for Nufarm North America in Alsip, IL . This role is responsible for handling shipment‑related issues and adjustments, serving as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all import/export inquiries. The SIES will drive continuous process improvements to support seamless shipping, efficient customs clearance, and overall operational excellence. Additionally, the role ensures delivery performance requirements are consistently met at the lowest landed cost , supporting both compliance and cost‑effectiveness across the supply chain.

Requirements

  • You bring at least two years of experience handling Dangerous Goods within a supply chain environment and two years in a Customs Coordinator role with either a customs broker or shipper.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain and possess a solid understanding of U.S. Customs and Import Laws (CFR 19).
  • Your intermediate Excel skills, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and talent for building effective business partnerships support your collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
  • You are highly organized, detail‑driven, and proactive, consistently demonstrating initiative in your work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day importing.
  • Serve as the focal point for all containers.. This includes: Single point of contact for any shipment that is lacking information to progress. Engage local, global, vendors, Customs Broker(s) and other stakeholders to resolve. Obtain/authorize documents, including, but not limited to, Endorsements, guarantees, arrival notices, regulatory doc’s, and standard shipping documents.
  • Point of contact for all inquiries on status of delivery timing. Weekly data reviews with purchasing & planning to ensure updated Hot deliveries have updated arrival times. Initiate diversions as necessary. Coordinate revised documents, p.o.’s, clearance, & delivery.
  • Provide cost inputs for decision making to various stakeholders
  • Approve and manage vendor payments. Perform validation step reviewing all invoices related to shipping/importing, IE matching actual charges vs. the rate card, and noting the exceptions for CIP. Review statements of accounts.
  • Provide occasional technical support, for new US Export lane, and secure the documents for export. < 5 new lanes a year. Ditto for new import to Canada or US, if necessary.
  • Ensure documents required by regulatory agencies EPA/FDA are obtained.
  • Work with Global Trade SME, Customs Broker, and other parties to resolve any compliance issue.

  • The base salary for this position ranges from $75,900 per year in our lowest geographic market to $96,700 per year in our highest geographic market.
  • Compensation is determined by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
