About The Position

City Year Chicago is seeking a Senior Impact Director (SID), who is responsible for the overall management and execution of the day-to-day Impact operations and achievement of service outcomes. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Impact, the SID is responsible for collaborating with the Impact Operations and Service Senior Directors to meet all departmental goals and support the overall development and management of the staff. The SID supervises 4-6 Impact Directors who directly manage 14-18 Impact Managers, and up to 31 school partner school relationships where we deploy nearly 200 AmeriCorps into national service. The SID oversees the implementation of all Impact aspects of the City Year Impact, including the management and accountability of Impact Directors and Impact Managers in delivering our service, identifying professional development needs and opportunities, strengthening school partner relationships and supporting the AmeriCorps member experience
The SID is also responsible for working to promote the long-term sustainability of the site, fostering strategic relationships with various stakeholders, serving on committees, and providing insight and vision as a resource catalyst. The SID also serves on the Site Leadership Team to support strategic planning for events, initiatives, and retreats to foster interdepartmental collaboration and organizational leadership. The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required.
• Minimum 5+ years of team management with a strong track record of results:
• Travel to schools throughout Chicagoland required; must have reliable means of transportation (valid driver's license and vehicle or ability to navigate public transit).

• Proven success in developing diverse talent through performance plans, reviews and leadership opportunities

Responsibilities

• Impact Director Management Coach, manage, and develop Impact Directors through weekly team meetings and one on ones, site visits to schools, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching that identifies professional development and capacity building opportunities. Consult on meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual Impact and Service goals and administrative deadlines. Create a strategy for the Impact Leadership Team to facilitate best practice sharing, decision making, and alignment. Manage and consult Impact Director team regarding AmeriCorps and site compliance Develop strategy and scope and sequence for Impact Director management and leadership development. Lead the Impact Director team in the creation of a scope and sequence to support management and leadership development for Impact Managers.
• Service Impact Actively collaborate with Senior Service Director to support Impact training design, service quality, and data collection. Track Impact Director portfolios to ensure data, deliverables, team progress, observations, and general service implementation are on track to meet end of year goals. Problem solve and determine course of action with Impact Directors to ensure quality of day-to-day service implementation across all schools Work directly with the Senior Service Director, Senior Impact Operations Director and Impact Analytics Director to support Impact Directors and Impact Managers in strategy for school deployments.
• Partner Relationship Management Maintain relationships with school principals to build sustainable and transformational partnerships across all portfolios of schools. Oversee Impact Director relationships with principals and school liaisons and serve as supervisory contact. Establish presence during any City Year and/or school crises and ensure proper protocols are understood and followed. Work alongside the Managing Director of Impact to support Impact Directors to develop strategy to secure continuation of school funding allocations. Manage Work Order, Purchase Order, and Invoice process in coordination with CPS procurement and CY HQ.
• AmeriCorps Member Management, Training & Development In collaboration with the Government Relations team, maintain site’s adherence to standards and national Impact baselines. Collaborate with Senior Impact Operations Director to determine necessary support for AmeriCorps member accommodations requests. Meet as needed with Impact Managers and AmeriCorps members regarding team management, accountability and standards issues, and manage disciplinary action regarding AmeriCorps members. Consult with Senior Impact Operations Director and Impact Operations team to ensure incident and mandated reports are handled appropriately, documentation is submitted timely and accurately, and ensure the necessary follow up has occurred. Collaborate with the Senior Service Director to ensure shared understanding and action-planning regarding AmeriCorps members’ professional development needs. Consult with the Managing Director of Impact, Senior Service Director, Learning & Development team and Senior Impact Operations Director to develop training scope and vision for the staff and AmeriCorps members.
• Organizational Initiatives & Site Support Partner with Senior Service Director and Senior Impact Operations Director to co-own shared Impact Department convenings, such Impact Department Director and Impact Village meetings Own/manage the hiring process for Impact directors and Impact managers to ensure the Impact Department is fully staffed throughout the course of the year. Lead the Senior Impact Manager Track; executing on the Impact department’s goals/vision for Senior Impact Managers Partner with the Senior Service Director to co-own the process for new and returning staff onboarding and ongoing learning and development needs. Partner with City Year Chicago departments and staff through stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met.
