The Senior HVAC Technician is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including air distribution machinery, pneumatic and digital controls, hot and chilled water distribution, and variable volume systems. This role requires the independent use of specially designed software and remote computer links to monitor systems and troubleshoot malfunctions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 4 years of experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
  • Possession of a current Virginia State Journeyman's HVAC License.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair building distribution systems, including low-pressure steam distribution, heat exchangers, hot and cold deck systems, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls.
  • Conduct HVAC system inspections and perform manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance.
  • Execute major component replacement work to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Lead repair teams in transitioning systems from heating to cooling and vice versa, performing seasonal overhauls as required.
  • Utilize remote computer links to monitor and adjust system setpoints and outputs via the building's programmable logic controls.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
