About The Position

Active is looking for an experienced, down-to-earth Senior Human Resources Business Partner to support our Victorian operations. Based in Bayswater , this full-time role works closely with field crews, supervisors, and operational leaders to keep things running smoothly from a people perspective. This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving, multi-site environment. You’ll be out building relationships, having real conversations, and helping leaders deal with people matters confidently and fairly. The Opportunity: As the Senior HR Business Partner, you’ll support leaders across the full employment lifecycle - from onboarding new starters to navigating performance conversations and resolving employee relations matters. Reporting to the Group People Manager, you’ll provide clear, practical advice that balances care for our people with the operational needs of the business. You’ll help leaders make sound decisions, stay compliant, and manage their teams consistently and confidently. This role suits someone who is approachable, resilient, and comfortable working in operational environments - someone who understands that strong culture is built through everyday actions, not just policies.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience across all stages of the employee lifecycle, with the ability to provide practical, people‑focused HR support.
  • Approachable and relationship‑driven, with a hands‑on style that builds trust and engagement across the business.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to visit crews on site and maintain strong on‑the‑ground connections.
  • Experience working within a blue‑collar, operational, or multi‑site environment.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, training and development, and industrial relations frameworks.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial Relations capability, including exposure to enterprise agreement negotiations and union consultation, is highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Organisational Development or a related discipline are preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide straightforward, practical HR advice across performance, conduct, employee relations, and workforce planning
  • Guide leaders on Awards, Enterprise Agreements, employment contracts, and policies
  • Support supervisors and managers with coaching and day-to-day people management
  • Assist in resolving workplace issues in a fair, timely and respectful way
  • Contribute to HR initiatives that improve engagement, safety, and team capability
  • Support change initiatives with clear communication and consultation
  • Identify ways to improve HR processes and simplify how we work
  • Build strong working relationships across crews, supervisors, and management
