About The Position

The Rimkus Forensic Human Factors group provides services related to evaluating safety, human performance, risk perception, and decision-making associated with human interaction with products, environments, and processes. The position will require managing a range of consulting projects that may involve working with teams on multi-disciplinary projects; conducting field investigations and physical testing, including data acquisition using software or involving human subjects testing; conducting research to obtain technical data; and reviewing scientific literature and standards. The Salary Range for this position is $104,100 - $156,100 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Cognitive, Experimental, or Industrial Psychology; Neuroscience; Industrial & Systems Engineering; or Human Factors or related field.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and good judgment.

  • Must be knowledgeable about Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to perform field inspections, physically move debris, inspect vehicles (commercial and tractor-trailer), and drive a motor vehicle to job sites.
  • Employees may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 plus years of work experience in human factors litigation consulting support.
  • Ph.D. in Cognitive, Experimental, or Industrial Psychology; Neuroscience; Industrial & Systems Engineering; or Human Factors.
  • Board Certification from BCPE and/or Professional Engineer License.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a legal and/or proactive consulting practice.
  • Complete site and product inspections.
  • Meet with colleagues, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Prepare expert reports, deposition summaries, and affidavits.
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, and other standard sources; provide written analysis to consultants.
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Provide deposition and trial testimony.
  • Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
