Job Description Summary The Sr. Grant Accountant will, under the direction of the Supervisor and/or Manager of Regulatory Accounting, and adhering to established policies and procedures, perform a variety of professional tasks related to grant and philanthropic accounting such as analyzing and reconciling accounts, posting journal entries, preparing various, reports and providing financial management over Grant awards and philanthropic donations in accordance with GAAP.. Job Description The Senior Grant Accountant will: In coordination with the Supervisor and/or Manager of Regulatory Accounting, financially manage grant awards which includes (but not limited to) grant review, cost center set up, monthly invoicing/collections , preparing financial reports, identifying pre / post-period expenses and complete financial grant close-outs. Complete month-end and year-end close activities which include (but not limited to), preparing journal entries, revenue recognition, account reconciliations, rollforwards and analysis. Prepare annual endowment report to Donors. Gather information related to grants and philanthropic donations the annual 990 tax filing. Compile necessary documentation for internal and external audit engagements. Works with members of the Regulatory Accounting team to train and cross-train others on various aspects of grant and philanthropic accounting. Provides Supervisor and/or Manager of Regulatory Accounting with monthly & annual reports related to grants and philanthropic donations; which include pledges, endowments and direct contributions. Work with Research Administration on strategic planning, and Grant budget review. Research and keep abreast of new regulations related to philanthropic accounting, and auditing. Make recommendations to Management ensuring that SRAlab is in compliance with GAAP. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Assist in development of new policies where appropriate. Provide administrative support to the Research units and the Supervisor of Regulatory Accounting. Maintain and/or enhance existing reporting systems to ensure current and future business needs are met. Acts as backup point of contact for the Supervisor of Regulatory Accounting.
