Role Summary The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian's engineered products to life. In this role, the Sr. Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for sourcing and managing mechanical Tier 2 components for ECU, such as enclosures, brackets, heatsinks, and other injection molded plastic or metal components. As a Senior Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of awarding new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements. You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality. On our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Tier 2 ECU team within the Vehicle Team of Supply Chain Organization onsite in Palo Alto, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or purchasing experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience and knowledge, both technical and commercial, managing business relationships with large suppliers in an Automotive, Electronics, or high-volume manufacturing business.
  • Experience with automotive, electronic, or consumer products and the design and manufacture thereof.
  • Strong analytical ability to break down complex problems and data sets to derive meaningful, actionable results.
  • Ability to understand Engineering and Design direction and provide focused supply-chain solutions accordingly.
  • Comfort in working independently and in teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and desire to own one's role and contributions to the cross-functional team.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, stamping, and extrusion is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP and strategic sourcing processes.
  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA's, General Terms & Conditions, Production Supply Agreements.
  • Develop and support sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps.
  • Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap for Rivian stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown form data.
  • Collaborate with internal Cost Estimating partners to build should-cost analysis to negotiate the most competitive market pricing.
  • Drive and implement cost reductions on prototype and production vehicles through leveraged negotiations to achieve vehicle cost targets.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics.
  • Review Engineering, Design & Development (ED&D) costs with Engineering leads to ensure best-in-class cost is attained.
  • Work closely alongside Program Management to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones, and track sourcing progress and design changes.
  • Manage vehicle budget in collaboration with the Rivian Finance team.
  • Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews.
  • Successfully close complex negotiations including commercial terms, statements of work, capacity supply, and pricing.
