About The Position
Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with an innovative federal contractor who is seeking a Senior GL Accountant with strong unanet experience to join their team on a contract basis with the potential for contract to hire. We are actively seeking a Senior GL Accountant with strong expertise in Unanet to join our cients team. This role is crucial for managing various accounting duties, including month-end close, financial report production and analysis, general ledger maintenance, local tax filings, and supporting data entry for Accounts Payable. The successful candidate will work closely with the Controller to support financial reporting and analysis.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of accounting experience with a federal contractor, with a preference for production and manufacturing experience.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Strong expertise in Unanet is required .
- Advanced skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited institution.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information.
- Team-oriented and flexible, capable of working closely with all levels of management.
- Focus on business process improvement to drive deployment of world-class processes.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proactive approach to embedding process improvement and collaborating with other functions.
Responsibilities
- Execute monthly financial close transactions, including balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Provide support for Accounts Payable in collaboration with the Accounts Payable Specialist.
- Process full-cycle payroll and labor reconciliations using Paylocity, a third-party payroll provider.
- Prepare month-end reconciliations for bank accounts, fixed assets, inventory, prepaid expenses, and other asset and liability accounts.
- Post journal entries for asset, liability, and income statement accounts as required.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and schedules for management and operations.
- Coordinate monthly financial statement reporting, budget variance analysis, and commentary with the Sr. Program Controller.
- Complete various tax filings, including sales and use, personal property, excise, and gross receipts.
- Resolve tax notices and conduct research as needed.
- Provide accounting support for ongoing projects, ensuring GAAP compliance.
- Assist in documentation preparation for independent audits and support the independent auditor.
- Perform additional duties as required.
