About The Position

Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Cost/GL Accountant to play a vital role in our finance department, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 50% of the responsibilities focused on cost accounting and the remaining 50% dedicated to general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of inventory costing in a manufacturing environment and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about accounting and wants to contribute to the success of a dynamic manufacturing and engineering company. This position is on-site (not remote/not hybrid) at our Tualatin headquarters and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or finance plus CMA required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or inventory intensive environment strongly preferred
  • 3+ years relevant experience in general ledger accounting, cost accounting, or combination.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory, knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting
  • Experience with GL, JE preparation, monthly and annual close processes
  • Proficiency in Epicor and Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, and Excel (including vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) highly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with both finance and operational teams

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, reclasses, and standard allocations
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis (Bank, FA, AP, AR)
  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting
  • Maintain and improve documentation of accounting processes and internal controls
  • Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead in the ERP system
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and inventory adjustments; partner with operations and supply chain to understand root causes
  • Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger and prepare supporting schedules for inventory valuation
  • Monitor slow moving and obsolete inventory and assist in calculating reserves and participate in annual physical inventory count procedures.
