About The Position

A organization is seeking an experienced Senior General Ledger Clerk to support financial operations through accurate general ledger processing, reconciliations, and reporting. This role focuses on journal entries, account analysis, and program closeouts rather than high-volume accounts payable.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting or Finance OR 4 years of equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, debits, and credits
  • Experience creating and posting journal entries
  • Ability to perform accurate account reconciliations
  • Proficiency with computerized accounting systems
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Ability to interpret basic charts and graphs
  • Ability to read, understand, and write simple correspondence
  • Effective verbal communication in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Apply common-sense reasoning to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Learn and apply financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and financial documentation
  • Type a minimum of 35 words per minute
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries; process, balance, and close computerized general ledger accounts.
  • Perform account analysis and reconcile bank statements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple programs, including grant-funded initiatives.
  • Support monthly and program-level financial close activities.
  • Prepare required financial and compliance reports for regulatory and oversight agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to established financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain organized financial records, files, and supporting documentation.
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to accounting records and financial data.
