About The Position

The Senior Fund Research Analyst position offers a valuable opportunity to grow and excel within the Fidelity Institutional Wealth Adviser (FIWA) Research team. The role involves conducting investment manager due diligence research; as well as supporting client service initiatives. The core responsibilities include: Primarily, conducting manager research/ongoing due diligence of actively managed equity or fixed-income investment strategies, including mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts (SMAs), and other investment vehicles. You will lead due-diligence meetings with portfolio managers to discuss their investment philosophy and process, their team's behavioral traits, their strategy's risk and return characteristics. You will use appropriate analytical and research tools to conduct independent and thorough research. The objective is to combine qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate the manager's skills and identify key performance drivers and potential risks. You will document your evidence-based research and analysis, and be able to make appropriate recommendations. You are expected to communicate investment merits, explain strategy performance and provide updates on investment teams and portfolio changes to FIWA portfolio managers, client service teams and institutional clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters and/or CFA credential preferred (or progressing towards CFA charter); Series 7 and 63 licenses a plus
  • Sound analytical mind-set; and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, and good understanding of investment products. Ideally prior experience in manager research covering actively managed mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs and other investment vehicles
  • Strong expertise in manager research/analytical tools (such as Morningstar, FactSet, eVestment) preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet concurrent and frequent deadlines
  • Independent but also able to balance independence with team work and collaboration. Mentor junior analysts as needed.
