About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our App Journey team and play a key role in shaping the core experiences that every Chime member interacts with every day. As a senior engineer on this team, you'll own the surfaces that define how members navigate and engage with Chime, helping them manage their finances with clarity and confidence. You'll work across the stack, partnering with product managers, designers, and product engineers to build scalable, reliable, and delightful experiences for millions of members. You'll also help shape the technical foundation that powers these experiences, working on server-driven UI systems, GraphQL APIs, and other parts of the platform that make our app faster and more flexible over time. The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $187,000 and up to $259,000 Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience. In this role, you can expect to Own and evolve core app surfaces including primary surfaces and app navigation, driving projects from concept to completion Work across the full stack, building frontend features in React Native while also contributing to backend services and GraphQL APIs in Ruby on Rails Partner closely with product managers and designers to define requirements, shape the roadmap, and translate ideas into high-quality, member-facing experiences Apply a product mindset to platform problems, finding opportunities to make the underlying systems faster, more reliable, and easier to build on Mentor and support more junior engineers on the team, sharing knowledge and raising the technical bar across the squad Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through active participation in sprint ceremonies, architecture discussions, and process refinement Participate in our frontend community of practice (guild), helping to shape how our app ecosystem is built, tested, deployed, and evolved Engineers are required to participate in on-call rotation. Being on call may include responding to incidents outside of regular working hours when necessary.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in full-stack development, with strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and React Native
  • Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails for backend development
  • A product mindset: you think about the member experience and business outcomes, not just technical correctness
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively with engineers, designers, and product managers
  • Leadership and mentorship experience, with a desire to help grow the engineers around you
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with server-driven UI development is a strong plus
  • Experience with GraphQL is a plus
