As Caterpillar continues to modernize its global finance capabilities, we are seeking a Strategy FP&A Manager to join our Global Finance Strategy team and support the evolution of planning, analysis, and management reporting. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the deployment and adoption of OneStream—our unified finance platform—and help advance more efficient, insight‑driven finance processes across the enterprise. As the Strategy FP&A Manager, you will support the development and execution of next‑generation planning and reporting solutions that enhance forecasting, improve business insights, and align with Caterpillar’s refreshed corporate strategy and values. You will play an important role in “Transforming How We Work” by partnering across finance and the business to modernize processes, enable better decision‑making, and drive continuous improvement within a global finance organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; 6–8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, finance transformation, or related roles, with exposure to planning, forecasting, management reporting, or finance systems initiatives.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
  • Financial Forecasting and Modeling: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques of financial forecasting and modeling; ability to explore and evaluate alternative financial scenarios and results.
  • Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts and analytical insights to a range of stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with enterprise financial systems or performance management tools; familiarity with OneStream or similar platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading projects or workstreams and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights in a dynamic, global environment.
  • Experience in a large, complex organization (e.g., industrial or manufacturing) with exposure to management reporting and forecasting processes.
  • Hands‑on involvement in finance transformation or system implementation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with modern FP&A techniques, such as driver‑based planning, scenario modeling, and data visualization.
  • Exposure to advanced analytics or predictive forecasting tools is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of Global Finance strategy initiatives related to management reporting and extended planning & analysis (xP&A).
  • Contribute to the future‑state vision and roadmap for planning, forecasting, and management reporting solutions on the OneStream platform, helping transition finance processes from manual to more automated and insight‑driven approaches.
  • Lead or support project workstreams to design and deliver xP&A solutions (e.g., planning models, dashboards, and analytical tools) that improve forecasting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams—including Corporate FP&A, IT, and business units across the Global Finance Services Division—to gather requirements, align priorities, and support successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Prepare and communicate project updates, business cases, and value propositions for finance transformation initiatives to finance leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support governance and continuous improvement efforts by incorporating feedback from finance partners and Strategy Leads across the organization.
  • Contribute to change management activities that promote adoption of OneStream and enhanced planning and reporting processes.
