Sr. Food Scientist, RTE
About The Position
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Food Scientist to join our team in Downers Grove. This role will focus on the development of Ready-to-Eat (RTE) applications, including snacks, bars, and baked products, with potential involvement in powders, ready-to-drink, tablets, and capsules. You will lead strategic innovation initiatives, manage product development from concept to market, and collaborate across departments to bring high-quality nutrition products to life. The position includes managing 1-2 direct reports and may require 10-20% travel. This is a lab-based role involving exposure to food allergens and product tasting.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in food, beverage, or dietary supplement industry
- Proven track record in developing and launching RTE snack products
- Advanced knowledge of formulation and manufacturing equipment for beverage production
- Strong understanding of raw material stability and international regulations
- Detail-oriented and organized, with adherence to GMP lab and factory guidelines
- Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
- Skilled in project management and cross-functional collaboration
- Leadership capabilities including mentoring and team development
Nice To Haves
- Experience with SAP preferred
