Position We are seeking a Senior Fixed Asset Cost‑Inventory Accountant to play a pivotal role in the financial stewardship of our expanding high‑performance computing (HPC) and data center infrastructure. This senior role blends fixed asset accounting, cost accounting, and inventory accounting, ensuring accurate lifecycle management of capital investments and operational assets. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in CIP accounting, fixed asset lifecycle management, standard costing, inventory valuation, and financial controls within capital‑intensive or high‑tech environments. You will collaborate with Development, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and Tax to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and optimization of asset‑related financials across the full project and operational lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, or related field (CPA/CMA preferred).
  • 6+ years of accounting experience with a strong emphasis on fixed assets, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.
  • Experience in capital‑intensive industries such as data centers, HPC, telecommunications, infrastructure, or high tech.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, capital project accounting, CIP, standard costing, and inventory valuation methodologies.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Coupa, Alteryx, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Strong analytical, systems, and organizational skills with the ability to manage complex data flows.
  • Excellent cross‑functional communication and partnership abilities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, transfers, depreciation, disposals, and retirements.
  • Maintain and reconcile CIP accounts; ensure timely and accurate capitalization of project costs.
  • Enhance fixed asset reporting, asset schedules, and lifecycle analytics to support strategic planning and operational transparency.
  • Strengthen controls and ensure strict adherence to capitalization policies, useful life assumptions, and GAAP guidance.
  • Lead cost accounting activities for equipment, components, and consumables supporting data center and HPC operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory valuation, including standard cost updates, adjustments, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze material usage, cost drivers, and operational spend trends to support Budgeting, FP&A, and Operations.
  • Partner with Procurement and Engineering to ensure accurate cost capture for inventory, spare parts, and maintenance materials.
  • Prepare and review project-related journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and cost allocations.
  • Perform project cost variance analysis and provide insights into cost overruns, capex efficiency, and construction timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with Construction, Engineering, and Operations to align financials with project milestones.
  • Support internal and external audits related to capital projects, fixed assets, and inventory.
  • Drive automation and scalable workflow enhancements within systems such as D365, Coupa, and related subledgers.
  • Participate in system integrations, data structuring, and process modernization initiatives.
  • Improve cross-functional data flow and financial visibility across procurement, asset management, and operations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls across fixed asset, cost, and inventory accounting processes.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities including reconciliations, rollforwards, cost schedules, and depreciation analysis.
  • Develop and enhance management reporting for CapEx, asset utilization, cost trends, and inventory financials.
  • Collaborate with Tax on depreciation methods, asset categorization, and compliance reporting.
