Senior Firmware Engineer Allegion is looking for a passionate Senior Firmware Engineer to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin, and LCN) focused on safety, security, and access management. You’ll work on solutions that enable seamless access and help keep people safe and secure where they work, live, and thrive.

  • Take full responsibility for designing, developing, testing, and documenting highly reusable firmware modules in C for maintaining and improving commercial electronic locks, readers, & credentials
  • Work on multiple firmware layers, from low level drivers to application protocols
  • Develop support documentation and unit test cases
  • Collaborate with other firmware engineers and project leads in a hybrid work environment
  • Support cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and product test teams
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Technical Expertise : Strong foundation in engineering principles, with diverse experience and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in developing embedded software in C, using industry-standard tools, IDEs, version control systems (e.g., Git), meters, and protocol analyzers. (5+ years of experience required)
  • Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). (2+ years of experience required)
  • Familiarity with secure communication protocols, encryption, and authentication methods.
  • Wireless Communication : Experience with wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Thread.
  • RFID Expertise : Familiarity with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies and relevant standards.
  • Team Collaboration : Strong ability to work in cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts effectively, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Passion for Innovation : A strong enthusiasm for connecting electronic hardware, mobile applications (iOS and Android), and cloud technologies to create seamless and cutting-edge solutions.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
  • Networking Knowledge : Experience with TCP/IP networking is preferred but not required.
