About The Position

Kayne Anderson Rudnick (KAR) was founded in 1984 to oversee the family capital of John Anderson. Over time, the firm expanded its services from managing capital for a single family to including family members, friends, and eventually a broader clientele comprising high net-worth individuals, public entities, corporations, endowments, and foundations. Headquarters in Los Angeles, Kayne Anderson Rudnick is a distinguished asset and wealth management firm with approximately $56 billion in assets under management and a national team of 135 employees. The firm is an affiliate of Virtus Investment Partners, located in Hartford, Connecticut. KAR is actively seeking to expand its financial planning team and is looking to hire a Senior Financial Planner who is passionate about working with high-net-worth and ultra-high net-worth clients. This individual will work primarily with the firm’s Director of Financial Planning and secondarily with the firm's Wealth Advisors to help design personalized financial plans, estate reviews, and tax analyses primarily for clients above $15 million in net worth. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with sophisticated clients, providing tailored solutions that address complex financial needs and goals. The candidate will lead in delivering financial planning recommendations for the firm’s clients and prospective clients utilizing various financial planning software platforms. Responsibilities include analyzing, creating, and developing financial plans, running tax analyses, reviewing estate reviews, and summarizing client financial documents. The Senior Financial Planner will also collaborate on strategic opportunities with the Wealth Advisors and assist in closing new business. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to help Wealth Advisors monitor clients' progress in meeting their plan goals and manage follow-up meetings. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, effective time management, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to thrive in this client-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required; additional credentials such as CPA, EA, or MBA are preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with a strong background in accounting, finance, or economics.
  • 5-8+ years of experience delivering financial plans and analysis for high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients, including tax, estate, investment, insurance, and retirement planning.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and wealth management in a client-facing role.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including effective presentation abilities.
  • Proven relationship-building skills with high-net-worth individuals, both in-person and online, to present financial planning concepts and provide client advice.
  • Ability to collaborate constructively within a team-oriented environment and manage priorities to meet established goals for financial planning deliverables.
  • Strong desire to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial small company setting, taking initiative and embracing diverse responsibilities.
  • High ethical standards, financial planning expertise, investment skills, and sound judgment; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and familiarity with eMoney and Holistiplan software is a plus.
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holder) as a condition of employment.

  • Experience preparing taxes for HNW and UHNW clients is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create personalized financial plans, estate reviews and tax analyses for the firm’s clients and prospective clients, supporting the Director of Financial Planning, utilizing the firm’s various financial planning software platforms.
  • Partner with Wealth Advisors in the delivery of their clients’ financial plans and join meetings to help discuss plan results and recommendations.
  • Assist Financial Planner(s) to make updates to client’s financial plans, running various planning analyses, and helping research new and changing planning topics.
  • Assist the Director of Financial Planning in development of internal and external projects for clients, marketing, or to expand firm’s financial planning capabilities.
  • Review client deliverables prepared by Financial Planner(s).
  • Conduct research related to planning strategies, tax law, and regulations as needed by the Director of Financial Planning.
  • Track client progress and help create analytic reports on planning progress.
  • Provide continued education of current tax law as applicable to individuals, trusts, and small businesses to the advisors.
