About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for applying principles of accounting to perform general accounting duties. They work closely with the Business Controller and assists with the completion of timely and accurate monthly financial statements for the assigned business, including workpapers for assigned general ledger areas. The Senior Financial Analyst performs Fixed Assets Audits and ad hoc reporting and complies with all the requirements and deadlines of Finance North America. Assists Business Controller with month-end financial reporting and analysis, including generating and reconciling reports/schedules, researching general ledger transactions and initiating adjustment as needed. Prepares fixed asset capitalization and asset maintenance reports; works with finance and operations teams to timely and properly capitalize assets when ready for use. Performs annual review of fixed assets and works with finance and operations teams to retire or write off assets no longer in use. Supports internal departments by giving direction and providing accurate financial results. Analyzes actual results against expected performance and communicates areas for improvement. Assists Business Controller in the entire financial cycle, including budgeting/forecasting, internal and external audits, account analysis and reconciliations, inventory, and all other financial processes. May train junior members of the team. At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct. Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of experience, including experience with month/year end close
  • English – Advanced level proficiency
  • Advanced level proficiency in Mathematical Skills
  • Advanced level Reasoning Skills/Abilities
  • Strong business acumen/business awareness with solid technical and analytical background
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and inter-personal skills
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations to different levels of management

  • MS Office Excel - Expert user level skills
