About The Position

This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The analyst will work within the reporting team and across various stakeholders including finance, accounting, and operations teams to ensure accurate internal management reporting and external financial reporting throughout the organization. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively. This position reports to the Director, Reporting and Corporate Business Services and is located at the Corporate Office in Akron, Ohio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience required.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills and the ability to connect financial data to business decisions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong understanding of financial cost flows / concepts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships
  • Desire to learn, grow and work across FirstEnergy and deliver results
  • Ability to anticipate questions ahead of time (think and act proactively)
  • Superior analytical abilities
  • Ability to formally present complex subject matter to all levels of management

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or relevant master’s degree a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel a plus
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • Familiarity with QlikView or other reporting tools
  • Utility or regulated industry experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the preparation and distribution of various monthly internal reports
  • Participating in the preparation, documentation and analysis of the Company's periodic SEC and regulatory reporting and disclosures, specifically management’s discussion and analysis
  • Participating in the preparation of supporting materials for investor relations
  • Participating in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Providing support and assistance to external auditors
  • Conducting ad hoc research, analyze data, interpret results, and provide financial analysis to senior management for various ad hoc projects
  • Develop solutions to improve the accuracy or efficiency of complex business processes and /or projects
  • Interfacing with and support various departments within the organization (state finance, rates and regulatory affairs, investor relations, treasury, etc.)
  • Consistently anticipating and delivering against a defined action plan
  • Understanding the financial and strategic goals of FirstEnergy
