About The Position

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C., and Chicago. The AHA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two days working remotely. We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for our Chicago office.. Responsible for supporting the Health Forum (HF) entities of the American Hospital Association (AHA), both for profit and non-profit entities, to drive smart, profitable and strategically aligned growth through preparing and reviewing financial statements according to generally accepted accounting principles, budget planning and forecasting, business review, insightful analysis and ad-hoc reporting. Collaborate and coordinate extensively across business lines and other business units within the AHA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Management, Accounting, Finance or related field Required
  • 5+ years Accounting and financial analysis experience Required
  • Experience developing and implementing performance improvement strategies and plans Required
  • Advanced knowledge of financial policies and accounting standards, including but not limited to GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls - Required
  • Familiarity with forecasting models and cost accounting principles - Required
  • Knowledge of financial operations for both non-profit and for-profit companies - Required
  • Advanced technical skills with CRM, database management and marketing automation applications - Required
  • Advanced financial software experience, including ERP/accounting software and other financial applications used by Finance - Required
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (outlook, word, excel, powerpoint, teams) and the ability to manage and maintain technology to improve workflows, data accuracy and productivity - Required
  • Advanced Salesforce.com, database management - Required
  • Ability to project and deliver account-specific return on investment - Required

Responsibilities

  • Review monthly financial reports, statements, and dashboards for assigned business unit/s and individual department performance relative to budgets and forecast.
  • Analyze variances and provide guidance and recommendations in both written reports and live discussion.
  • Prepare financial reports for HF leaders.
  • Develop and standardize business reporting for data analysis and internal business review that support sales objectives, forecast and performance metrics.
  • Perform month-end general ledger accounting to ensure financial credibility.
  • Prepare monthly sales incentives reports.
  • Ensure Health Forum adheres to all corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with AHA finance team on monthly account reconciliations, month end closing process and annual external audits.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting for management review, including detailed reports for budget discrepancies.
  • Coordinate preparation of annual budget, monthly forecasts, and year end forecast.
  • Ensure high quality service, timely resolution, and clear and complete communications on financial inquiries and requests with internal and external customers.
  • Assist with resolution of outstanding payables, general ledger reconciliations, and credit card transactions.
  • Provide staff and external vendors with banking and company information as needed
  • Partner with sales and marketing team members to refine lead qualification process, analyze and document campaign performances with reporting and dashboards.
  • Ensure fulfillment/payment deadlines are met in accordance with contractual agreements, industry benchmarks and monitor aged accounts receivable (days in AR), providing collections support as needed.
