About The Position

Winpak Portion Packaging is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Sauk Village, IL. In this role, you'll own core month-end close activities and lead key accounting processes including fixed assets, consolidated inventory, payroll accounting, and general ledger work. You'll partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate reporting, audit readiness, and strong internal controls that support plant and business performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with manufacturing or industrial experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to cross-functional partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with hands-on experience using ERP systems and Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently, exercise sound judgment, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • MBA and/or professional certifications (CPA, CMA) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fixed asset accounting: Maintain the construction-in-progress subledger; analyze variances vs. approvals; place assets in service; process disposals; record monthly depreciation; maintain book and tax records.
  • Capital spend reporting : Prepare monthly capital spending analysis and forecasts; coordinate the annual impairment review.
  • Inventory accounting and controls: Oversee the plant’s perpetual cycle count program; support accurate inventory costing and valuation; oversee consolidated spare parts inventory activity and counts.
  • Obsolescence reserves: Establish and review balance sheet provisions for obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
  • Payroll accounting: Prepare payroll journal entries and reconciliations from the UKG payroll system; deliver consolidated personnel expense analysis and reporting.
  • Close, reporting, and audit support: Assist with internal and external audit requests, financial reporting, and ad hoc analyses.
  • General ledger ownership: Oversee prepaids, accruals, research and development accounting; support related-party transactions; complete periodic business and government surveys; take on special projects as assigned.
