The Finance Team is responsible for providing and delivering accurate, timely and expert financial and accounting management services enabling the business to make effective, considered decisions while ensuring regulated and compliant activity. The Senior Financial Accountant is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting strategic financial planning which will contribute to the overall success of Actionstep. Requirements

  • CPA qualification or actively working toward completion.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in a complex organization (ex. exposure to transfer pricing).
  • Strong experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and core accounting processes.
  • Experience in developing written accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (IFRS exposure a plus).
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong excel and analytical skills.
  • Detailed-Oriented and Disciplined: You have a meticulous approach to reviewing financial data, identifying discrepancies, and resolving them.
  • Analytical & Curious: You analyse financial data critically, ask why numbers move, and seek to understand the underlying business drivers rather than stopping at “it ties”.
  • Organised: You have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively and know how to prioritise tasks to ensure timely completion of financial reports and analyses.
  • Effective Communicator: You are comfortable communicating with internal teams and external stakeholders when required.
  • Ability to work in both team and individual capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Execution & Close Support: Own assigned areas of the month-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries, schedules, and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Balance Sheet & Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain high-quality balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Consolidation & Intercompany Support: Support global consolidation and intercompany processes, including reconciliations and elimination support, under the direction of the Accounting Manager.
  • Tax & Payroll Accounting Support: Support tax accounting and payroll accounting by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, partnering with FinOps and external advisors as needed.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis Support: Prepare variance analyses, accounting explanations, and supporting schedules to support timely financial statements and monthly management and board reporting led by the Controller.
  • Audit & Documentation Support: Prepare audit schedules, PBCs, and supporting documentation, and assist with audit and diligence requests as required.
  • Systems & Process Discipline: Use NetSuite effectively and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes, documentation, and close discipline.
  • Proactively assist in the monitoring of financial policies and processes to promote good financial management practices and updating written documentation as required.
  • Build strong, professional working relationships across Finance and key internal stakeholders through clear, proactive, and reliable communication.
  • Engage constructively with internal teams, auditors, and external advisors to support accurate accounting, audits, and close-related activities.
  • Actively looking to build own career through delivery of self and assisted professional development initiatives.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, best practices, and relevant technologies, applying learnings to improve accounting quality and efficiency.
  • Proactive in identifying and participating in the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the Finance Team.
