Job Summary The Senior Financial Officer (SFO) is responsible for implementing established financial policies and strategic plans while overseeing daily financial operations. This role prepares and analyzes financial reports—including budgets, forecasts, and financial statements, regulatory and organizational compliance, manages accounts payable and receivable, oversees payroll processes, reconciles accounts, supports internal and external audits, and provides actionable financial insights to support informed decision-making. Follow established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Five years of healthcare relevant experience in financial roles in management or senior analysis.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the financial and statistical accounting reporting system.
  • Review and analyze financial data.
  • Administer the general accounting, patient business services, third party reimbursement, financial, and statistical reporting functions.
  • Provide formal or informal direction of materials management and medical records functions.
  • Develop long and short range operational and capital budgets which support the hospital’s long and short-range plans and objectives.
  • Assume the lead role in analyzing and exploring means of reducing hospital operating costs and increasing revenues.
  • based on knowledge of market trends, financial reports and operating procedures.
  • Review monthly general ledger
  • Attend and prepare monthly finance committee reports
  • Manage cash flow
  • Monitor receipts
  • Manage preparation of the budget
  • Prepare analytical schedules as needed
  • Prepare cost report
  • Manage deficit activity
  • Review performance of subordinates in assigned departments
  • Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization
  • Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Completes annual educational requirements.
  • Understands and adheres to Bell’s compliance standards as they appear in the Lifepoint Code of Conduct.
  • Keep abreast of state and federal regulations, laws and policies as related to hospital finance.
  • Ensure staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
