Job Summary: The Senior Field Service Technician will be responsible for initiating and executing field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner. This role includes proactive system troubleshooting, works with mechanical, electrical, chemical feed and storage equipment, conducts routine contractual sampling and survey work, preventative/breakdown maintenance, maintains parts inventory, completes cost accounting time entry and field data entry, anticipates and corrects safety issues (both Company and Customer owned equipment). Has direct interfacing with customer and may be responsible for work in multiple systems/locations/customers within a primary service area and regional territory. The ideal candidate will be located in northern Virginia (Leesburg/Ashburn) or southwest Baltimore, MD (Gaithersburg/Olny areas) Who We Are Looking For: Xylem is seeking mechanically inclined professionals who are passionate about hands-on work and problem-solving. Requirements

  • Some travel required 20%-50% travel depending on division & location (overnight stays, away from home)
  • May travel 1-2 weeks/month
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
  • Clean driving record
  • 2 to 5 years of mechanical/technical work experience including industrial or commercial process water experience
  • Be able to pass background check & pre-employment drug screen
  • Electrical, mechanical
  • Safe use of power and hand tools and test instruments
  • Work without direct supervision
  • Technically sound
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including smart devices
  • Must have customer service/field service experience
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and troubleshooting ability
  • Synthesizes technical information and communicates it clearly
  • Derives insight from customer experience to produce outcomes and solve problems often in novel and unexpected ways

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: May have industry specific license(s) for water or wastewater
  • Trades /Training Certificates - HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical
  • Water/Wastewater/Chemical handling, processing, analytical experience a plus
