We deliver innovative hardware and software solutions that help customers inspect buried infrastructure more efficiently, accurately, and safely. We’re seeking a highly motivated Senior Field Service Technician with proven experience in technical service, strong customer-facing skills, and the ability to work independently . This role combines hands-on equipment support and maintenance with customer demos, training, and sales support activities across the Midwest. You’ll be a key field representative, ensuring customer success with Envirosight equipment and solutions.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in field service, technical support, or maintenance of complex electro-mechanical or industrial equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently in customer-facing field environments.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex field equipment issues.
  • Proficient with computers, mobile devices, and service documentation tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn and support proprietary hardware and software systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a focus on building trust and delivering exceptional service.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor in customer settings.
  • Strong time-management, planning, and organizational abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment as required for installations and demos.

  • Experience supporting product demonstrations or sales activities strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of complex electro-mechanical and software-integrated inspection systems.
  • Own all service activity within the assigned territory, operating with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Serve as the regional escalation point for advanced technical issues and customer-facing service concerns.
  • Accurately document service activities, root cause findings, and corrective actions.
  • Act as the primary technical representative for customers within the assigned region.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to customers with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipal, contractor, and utility customers.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve customer experience, equipment performance, and service outcomes.
  • Conduct on-site product demonstrations and customer evaluations in support of sales activities.
  • Provide technical expertise during solution discussions that influence purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare, maintain, and transport demonstration equipment for customer visits and regional events.
  • Travel extensively within the Northern Illinois & Midwest region; ability to manage travel logistics and planning independently.
  • Maintain and transport equipment and demo units; ensure vehicles and toolkits are prepared for daily field use.
  • Communicate field insights, customer feedback, and service data to internal technical, sales, and product teams.
  • Support regional parts inventories and coordinate with the service desk and partners to secure timely repairs and spare parts.
