About The Position

The Senior Field Service Engineer is a leadership-level technical role responsible for advanced installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of CNC-controlled machine tools and automation systems. In addition to providing expert technical support, this role manages and mentors junior engineers, fosters professional development, and actively participates in leadership training to strengthen team performance and organizational growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent technical experience).
  • 5+ years of field service experience with CNC machinery and/or industrial automation.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coach junior engineers in both technical and professional development.
  • Advanced proficiency with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to balance technical and managerial responsibilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and safely work in industrial environments.
  • Flexibility for extensive travel, including occasional overnight or weekend assignments.
  • Comfortable working remotely while maintaining consistent communication with internal teams.
  • Willingness to attend trade shows, customer events, and training sessions as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs and related industrial control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent OpEx and manufacturer partners with professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Field Service Engineers and other junior team members.
  • Install, commission, repair, and troubleshoot CNC-controlled machine tools and automation equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic issues.
  • Provide advanced customer guidance on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.
  • Support knowledge transfer by coaching less-experienced engineers and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Attend leadership development and technical training to strengthen management capabilities and technical expertise.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, internal teams, and customer personnel.
  • Interpret, analyze, and communicate technical and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrate expertise in I/O modules, servo amplifiers, control systems, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Apply a deep understanding of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, EtherCAT/Ethernet networking, and industrial electronics.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude and uphold high service standards at all times.
