About The Position

SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America. Job Description Summary: The Senior Estimator will be responsible for the planning and management of estimating activities for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) construction projects, including preparation, interpretation, and presentation of estimates. This role is fully remote. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process. Requirements

  • Construction Management or Engineering degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating or related experience with 3 years of experience as an Estimator preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of construction costs and principles.
  • Strong background in the use and manipulation of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong sense of urgency.

  • Solar industry experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications and other Owner provided documents.
  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.
  • Determine labor costs and construction equipment costs.
  • Prepare detailed estimates at conceptual and more detailed stages of projects.
  • Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules.
  • Analyze completed projects to identify, review, and understand variances over and under budget to inform future bidding and estimating activities.
  • Participate in regular pricing reviews of outgoing proposals.
  • Assist jobsite staff with estimates after bid award.
  • Maintain good relationship with peers, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Supervise and train estimating staff (when applicable).
  • Serve as bridge between Business Development, Estimating, Precon, Engineering and Ops/Field teams to improve communication and transfer of information between groups; this may include attending/participating in BD to Precon handover meetings, Engineering kick-off meetings, and Constructability Review meetings.
