About The Position

Turner & Townsend is looking for Senior Estimator to support specialized construction projects within live data centers, focusing on retrofits, upgrades, and maintenance. The position ensures accurate cost estimates and project planning while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations. It requires strong construction estimating skills and a solid understanding of data center environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in construction estimating, ideally with exposure to complex retrofit or maintenance projects in operational environments (such as data centers, critical facilities, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of critical building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical) and operational constraints in live facilities.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate cost forecasting and risk assessment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and safety protocols for high-risk environments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to prepare clear reports and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors for retrofit and maintenance projects.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to define scope and identify challenges in live data center environments.
  • Identify and assess risks related to construction activities on active infrastructure, including downtime costs, and incorporate mitigation strategies into estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field operations teams to create realistic schedules that minimize operational impact.
  • Obtain and validate vendor quotes for specialized services such as electrical, mechanical, and fire suppression systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and proposals detailing estimated costs, methodologies, and ROI projections.
  • Work closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure estimates align with safety standards and operational requirements.
  • Support development and improvement of estimating processes and cost management procedures for consistency across projects.
  • Participate in vendor and contract management activities, including RFPs, PERs, and compliance oversight.
  • Provide technical assistance in interpreting drawings and recommending construction methods suitable for active data center environments.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
