Florida Power & Light is seeking a talented senior-level Environmental Air Subject Matter Expert that is motivated, self-directed and results-driven to support air subject matter issues. This position will require involvement in all aspects of the air program including regulatory review of proposed federal and state regulations, air permitting, compliance support for operating facilities, and support for sustainability reporting, including coordination with internal teams responsible for data aggregation and calculations. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills are a must. Strong technical review skills are critical. The position will interface with clients across the organization providing professional support within their area of expertise. The position will be required to prepare and communicate issues to senior level staff and management. Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence, permitting, regulatory compliance, regulatory interpretation and development, and interface with Federal, State, and Regional agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4 or more years’ related experience in the Air Environmental area
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in review and comments on air regulations
  • Demonstrated successful negotiation experience with regulatory and compliance agencies including permitting of major PSD sources
  • Power plant experience or thorough knowledge of electrical generation and emissions control technologies
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Statistical analysis experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, meteorology, environmental science, or engineering
  • Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Knowledge of market dispatch, production costing, and operation of utility regulated and deregulated power generation facilities

Responsibilities

  • Supports the company's compliance with environmental requirements
  • Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews
  • Assists with facility compliance audits
  • Conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities
  • Supports environmental aspects of company operations, such as, compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting functions
  • Monitors and analyzes environmental policies and regulations that affect the company and its customers
  • Provides the necessary support to staff to resolve environmental matters
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
