Join a team that's naturally committed to the environment. Your Opportunity Stantec is looking for a driven Environmental Project Manager to lead impactful work across Georgia. Join a team providing permitting strategy, environmental assessment and application preparation, and technical support for projects that require municipal, provincial/state, and federal environmental approvals and licenses.

Requirements

  • Strong background in environmental permitting, impact assessments, water quality, and performing wetland delineations and habitat evaluations for protected species.
  • Familiarity with Georgia-specific processes (USACE Savannah District, Stream Buffer Variance, GDOT protocols).
  • Industry connections in energy, residential, or commercial sectors-especially in the Atlanta metro area.
  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, biological resources or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience providing or managing technical services in a professional services setting, preferable in the Southeastern US. (Experience in Georgia is required)
  • Experience in managing and providing environmental consulting services to project developers in support of project siting, design, and permit applications.
  • Local, state, and Federal compliance and environmental permitting experience required.
  • 5 years' experience in a client-facing role (including business development and/or client management).

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications (Professional Wetland Scientist, Project Manager Professional, Professional Wildlife Biologist, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission-Georgia Environmental Protection Division Erosion and Sediment, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Wetland and listed species permitting in Georgia including but not limited to understanding of the Section 404 CWA/Section 10 Rivers and Harbors Act (RHA) process as implemented by the USACE Savannah District; Stream Buffer Exemption Verification and Variance Procedures, Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) Erosion and Sediment Rules and Regulations, United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and GDNR Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) Species evaluations and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Manage diverse projects and key client relationships-from residential and commercial permitting, mitigation/conservation banking, water resources, roadway, natural gas pipelines, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, solar facilities, and other energy related projects.
  • Lead permitting efforts at the local, state, national, and federal level including agency coordination with United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Georgia agencies, following NEPA, Endangered Species Act (ESA), and Clean Water Act (CWA), etc compliance.
  • Coordinate agency communications, oversee technical assessments, and guide project teams through successful execution.
  • Initiates, prepares and reviews proposals and client contracts, including fee estimation, project set-up and execution of work with senior management assistance.
  • Responsible for project setup, project delivery, project controls, client satisfaction and contract management.
  • Prepares work plans, assembles project team, delegates tasks and ensures compliance with scope and timely completion of tasks.
  • Establishes and maintains quality assurance plans and safety plans for assigned projects.
  • Mentorship of early career and mid-level staff; potential supervision of staff.
