Chemours is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join our growing Thermal Specialized Solutions (TSS) team. This position will be available at the Corpus Christi Plant located in Ingleside, TX and reports directly to the TSS Operations Vice President. Alternate TSS locations may be considered. This role leads business EHS & Operations Sustainability governance, leading EHS improvement plan development and supporting execution, establishing EHS standard work and division specific processes and programs, monitoring leading and lagging indicators, audit findings and recommendations, compliance with regulatory requirements and Chemours standards, driving zero incident mindset. Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience in High Hazard Industrial Chemical Manufacturing
  • Experience leading deployment of EHS and sustainability programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or other STEM field
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Personal Leadership: Ability to take initiative, self-manage, identify what is needed and take effective action to bring about change and lead/implement change
  • Implementation: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, achieve results on time and influence/negotiate with others at various levels of the organization
  • Networking/Team Building: Ability to work closely with site teams, facilitate discussions, work effectively with others to address complex tasks, interact with other subject matter experts to maximize results and to receive varied inputs and build alignment
  • Able to travel as needed, up to 30%

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or related field
  • Business Direction: The ability to foresee and anticipate problems and make appropriate adjustments
  • Good to excellent technical background with independent thinking attributes and/or in-depth technical expertise
  • Experience with Lean methodologies
  • Advanced training in root cause analysis such as ABS

Responsibilities

  • Develops business EHS strategy and objectives with alignment of business leadership team, sites and Enterprise EHS & Operations Sustainability strategy to drive TSS to zero incident performance.
  • Provides high quality, felt leadership by collaborative site engagement, including field & EHS systems auditing, gemba walks, and planning.
  • Drives implementation of best practices to the sites – looking for opportunities to streamline, standardize and simplify, both within the business, and where appropriate across the Enterprise.
  • Identifies and leads the execution of opportunities to simplify processes and deliver business value
  • Ensures that learnings from incidents and trends across Chemours are understood and where appropriate, actions are taken to prevent recurrence in TSS facilities.
  • Actively participates on the TSS operations Leadership Team and in CDH Site Leadership meetings and the EHS leadership team, ensuring good communication and business alignment.
  • Receives business direction on role from VP Operations and functional direction from VP Technology, TSS, and EHS & Corporate Responsibility Vice Presidents.
  • Business EHS resource & coach to HTM SGCs (Safety Guardian Committees).
  • Assists sites with incident investigation, injury, illness and incident classifications, issue resolution, agency interactions, etc. for recordable injuries, Tier 1, Tier 2, repeat or high-risk issues, and other situations where support is requested.
  • Supports 2nd party auditing, permitting processes and EHS COE initiatives
  • Ensures appropriate MOC-P for TSS personnel; coaches and mentors site resources and provides input into the Enterprise EHS talent management process.
