About The Position

This position will provide remote and on-site subject matter expertise at Dyess AFB, TX in support of the B-1 System Program Office (SPO). The Senior Program Manager (PM) is responsible to assist in the design, planning, execution, analysis, reporting, and documentation related to programs (including software, com/nav, defensive systems, and weapons) on the B-1 Bomber. This is a 100% direct labor position that will require intermittent travel within the Continental US (CONUS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (master’s degree preferred) from an accredited college or university.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience as a B-1 Weapons Systems Operator or Pilot; acquisition and B-1 test experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in conceiving, planning and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity, requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated research techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently on maintenance and logistics engineering problems and methods, and to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • Strong Organizational and Project Management skills.
  • Must have current Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Work in concert with the B-1 SPO, Air Force Global Strike Command, and B-1 user community to assist in the development of aircraft and weapons requirements.
  • Participate in Working Groups, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various Integrated Project Teams (IPT); provide program, systems engineering, and acquisition support to the B-1 SPO and prime contractors concerning aircraft modifications.
  • Create and/or review documents including drawings, tech orders, requirements documents, specifications, technical data, airworthiness packages, certification documents for governing authorities.
  • Create and/or review ground/flight documentation including plans, procedures, analysis, and reports.
  • Provide support for validation and verification of hardware, software, and technical documents.
  • Assess risks to program success and recommend courses of action to the IPT lead based on risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, assess, and recommend strategies for supporting and sustaining updated and modified weapons system components (hardware and software).
  • Travel to multiple locations within CONUS.
